  • NYC’s transition into Fall and Fall in NYC

Ah the start of the best time of the year; the week or two before fall gets into full swing. If there is one thing that Fall teaches you it is to live in the moment, otherwise you will get screwed and concentrate on the fact that each day that passes is one less day of Fall. I actually don’t know why I love Fall so much. It could be factors from my childhood, it could be that I hate being hot, it could be a lot of things…but what’s the point of questioning it? Bottom-line is that Fall comes around and I become a much happier person. This summer was especially hard on me. Moving to Queens, being broke, having a tough time at work, and having Michelle far away added up to a bad combination. Throw in the fact that it was summer and I could have told you from the start that it was going to go disastrously. It did. But fuck it, I survived…and now I am here…at the time of year where pumpkinspice rolls out onto menus for a topping on coffee, football comes back on TV (I don’t really even like football that much, it’s just another sign of Fall coming), the hoodies get hung on the rack, and walking through the City becomes a dream rather then a nightmare. NYC is an interesting place because it is one of the few places I have ever been that makes an annual transition from the best city on Earth to a not so fun city…the summer sucks. The fall is AMAZING the winter is fine, spring is ok (only ok because you know summer is coming) and the summer is terrible. The city transforms, and you recognize when it is about to.

Anyways, what is this blog about? Its about NYC changing from summer to fall, and what it’s like to be in the city in the fall. Each day I am in NYC for the month of October I will be taking a picture of what Central Park looks like looking down the mall towards Bethesda. Lots of overhanging trees, lots of pretty side bushes, etc. I will also post things that I identify as the “fall in the city” so that when the summer comes again, I, and i guess anyone who wants to look, can see the city change from summer to fall and count the days. I will also post things that I will identify as fall in the city from here on out…songs I hear for the first time…movies I see…people, bands, trees, a telephone pole, whatever looks new and like fall…

Yea, I really hate summer that much. It’s terrible.
